Your registration fee directly supports local Betterment recipients in the DMV area! Recipients like our 2023 recipient, Stay in Step. Romy Camargo joined the US Army to serve and protect the country he loves, following in the footsteps of his older brothers. He was nearly killed in a military action in Afghanistan. He is a quadriplegic from the US Army, Airborne Ranger / Special Forces Green Beret, 100% wounded warrior. After he survived his "life changing" injuries, he needed to drive to Orlando from Tampa about a 2½ hour drive EACH WAY, to get needed therapy. He and his wife, Gaby, decided to create and open a brain and spinal cord injury recovery center in their hometown of Tampa, to service the large contingent of military personnel located in the area. In 2015, they opened the doors to Stay in Step. Romy personifies the "never give up, never give in, never say die" attitude despite his state of disability. He is an inspiration to all that have the honor of knowing him. Funds raised at last year's tournament helped with expenses that patients and their family incur that are not covered by insurance.
