Legacy Trails Workdays August 2, 4, 13, 20, 26, 30
Sipsey Wilderness
8:30 a.m.
(More details to come when you register)

Join Wild Alabama volunteers for an opportunity to work on the repair and restoration of many Sipsey Wilderness trails! Through our Legacy Trails grant, we were able to utilize new tools and professional trail builders to closely analyze and diagnose the erosion issues on over 20 miles of our beautiful Sipsey Wilderness trails. Now that we know what needs to be done, we are into phase two.... the action! If you like hiking with trail maintenance, then this is perfect for you. You will get credit for volunteer hours of service while doing something in nature with others who are participating for similar reasons.

We ask that participants be 18 years old, or be accompanied by an adult. Please bring your food and water for the day in a backpack that can be carried with you on the trail. Please also bring any medicine, whether prescription or OTC, that you might need while you are away from your car.

If you have questions about the workday, or you are concerned because you have a limitation, don't worry! You can speak directly to the trail leader through email or phone conversation. Ask all the questions you like, and we will see if this is the right event for you. For safety, we ask that participants wear closed-toed shoes with ankle support, and long pants and that you wear work gloves. We will provide you with a hard hat and safety glasses when those apply. Please do not bring pets on workdays... it is simply a safety concern.

Tools are provided by Wild Alabama.

No prior experience is needed to help with Legacy Trails work days!

Lindsay Madison is your trail leader and can be contacted by email at Lindsay@wildal.org
