Kit Rock Legacy Fund
Fostering Hope and New Beginnings for Kittens
Kit Rock was brought to TCRAS on June 29, 2024, to save his life. He was found in the middle of Woodland Park by a kind soul who saw he was only 4 weeks old and how severely injured he was. He had maggots crawling through his wounds, and he was so weak that he was unable to lift his head.
Once Kit Rock got here, it was clear that he was fighting for his life. He had several injuries to his back legs that were filled with maggots and infection. The staff and the local veterinarians gave him all the support and love they could. He was being fed hourly and monitored exceptionally closely.
He fought for several weeks until he succumbed to his injuries and crossed the rainbow bridge.
TCRAS gives each animal the best care it deserves to ensure they have every opportunity to find their new beginnings.
It would be great to say that Kit Rock is the only kitten who has come into our care in this fragile state, but sadly, he is not.
Each year, TCRAS takes in approximately 20-30 orphaned kittens. When kittens come into a shelter this young without their mothers, it falls to the staff and special foster homes to take them in. Kittens often need to be fed every 3-4 hours, cleaned, nurtured, and loved until they are old enough to be adopted.
Back in July, we let you know the Kit Rock Legacy Fund would help other kittens this season and introduced you to Stark. Well, plot twist: this beautiful kitten became Lady Stark. She was a bottle baby who came in at three weeks old, struggled with eye infections, and was really slow to gain weight.
She was monitored closely by her foster family and loved through it all. On Thursday, she finally reached over two pounds and was able to be spayed. Now, she is up for adoption and is spicy and fun! Her adoption fee is $130, and we hope she lands in a home that is loyal to the Stark House Name.
Lady Stark is ready to pass the Kit Rock Fund to three kittens who haven't even opened their eyes. We think they are about a week old and require around-the-clock care. These three have a long journey ahead of them, and we are hopeful they will grow big and strong. See the gallery for the most updated pictures of Lady Stark and the new littles.
