2024 Buddy Walk Volunteer Sign Up
Welcome to the 27th Annual Greater Charlotte Buddy Walk. This years Buddy Walk will be held on Saturday October 19, 2024 from 11am-3pm at the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers Atrium Ballpark in Kannapolis, NC.
Buddy Walk History
Created by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995, the Buddy Walk is a one-mile walk that provides an annual public platform for advocacy & celebration during Down Syndrome Awareness Month. The goal of the Buddy Walk is three-fold: to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome; to raise the funds necessary to develop innovative and effective programs; and to enhance the position of the Down syndrome community, enabling us to positively influence local and national policy and practice.
The DSA of Greater Charlotte’s goal is to raise $150,000 from the Buddy Walk this year to support our current programs as well as create and sustain new programs that enhance the quality of life for all people with Down syndrome by empowering individuals, families and professionals with information and support through education, social programs, and community partnerships.
Therefore, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Our Buddy Walk Volunteers are VITAL in making this event a success- we simply couldn't do it without you! We ask that all Buddy Walk volunteers be age 14 or older at the time of the event, unless otherwise indicated. We have several volunteer opportunities for this event, and we hope you will be able to join us on October 19th!
If you have any questions about volunteering at the Buddy Walk, please email Victoria Coles, DSA-GC Program and Community Outreach Director, at [email protected]
Thank you for helping to support the Greater Charlotte Down syndrome community!
