A Visual Art Exploration for Teens

This summer, visiting artist and professional muralist, Scotty Greathouse is leading a visual art exploration within our Teen rooms. Playing with negative space, color schemes, painting, and installation, Scotty is working with our teens to develop a mural with words hand-picked by teens exclusively in their teen room. These words, such as "family" "acceptance" "community" "support", show what our teen program means to our teens.

In May 2017, Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County received a grant from the California Arts Council to support this program. However, we need to match our funds given by the council 1:1. For more information about this project and its impact in our community, check out our featured article in the Good Times "A New Mural Project in the Works for Boys & Girls Club" here.

So far, we have raised $8,745. We need your help to raise an additional $4,000 to meet our goals and support our Teen Mural Project, happening at both the Downtown and Live Oak Clubhouses.

You can follow the progress of our mural projects via Scotty's Instagram @ideasforwalls and/or stop by our Downtown Clubhouse (543 Center Street) on Friday, August 11 between 5-7 for an unveiling and reception, where you can meet the teens and visiting artist, Scotty.

How would you like to support?
