Member Hike - December 8th

Join us on Sunday, December 8 at 1:00 pm for our last member event of the year.

The leaves are falling fast as the temperature reminds us that winter is right around the corner. This season’s Friends of Dragon Run Member hike will be held at our Powcan property in Essex County near Miller’s Tavern.

The beaver is a keystone species in the Dragon Run Watershed. This year, the beavers have a special treat for you. They have created a spectacular beaver dam very near the Dragon's headwaters. With reduced water levels, the construction and extent of their engineering is on display!

Please plan for the weather. Wear shoes or boots to keep your feet dry in case of rain. Be prepared for uneven footing and possible muddy spots. Bring water and snacks for the hike. We will offer light refreshments when you return.

All hikes will start and end at the parking area and last for about two hours. There are no bathroom facilities on site. We love dogs but not everyone does, so please plan to leave your furry friend at home.  Thank you.

This is a FODR member’s event. Non-members may attend if accompanied by a member, or you can become a member by going to https://www.dragonrun.org/membership.html.

Email [email protected] if you have any questions.  Also let us know if anyone in your party is age 12 or under.  If you register and cannot attend, please let us know so we do not wait for you. Thank you!
