Professor Kendall Cotton Bronk, Ph.D., will lead us through a discussion, some activities, and a question and answer session about her findings around the "Science of Purpose." Together we will learn specific ways to cultivate purpose in our teens, understand how purpose can lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful life, and hear about the grandfather of the science of purpose - Holocaust survivor, Viktor Frankl. After Professor Bronk's talk, we will take a break to enjoy wine and snacks together. The evening will conclude with a panel with other scientists in our community about the intersection of Judaism and science.
(Note: The older teens in our community will also get a chance to learn with Professor Bronk.)

About speaker, Kendall Cotton Bronk, Ph.D., is the Principal Investigator for the Adolescent Moral Development Lab and a Professor of Psychology in the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the Claremont Graduate University. She is a developmental scientist interested in studying and promoting positive youth development and the moral growth of young people. Along with studying character strengths, including humility, gratitude, hope, and patience, she has most commonly investigated young people’s purposes in life.
Her research has explored the relationship between purpose and healthy growth, the ways young people discover purpose, and the developmental trajectory of youth with strong commitments to various purposes in life. Her work has been funded by the Spencer Foundation, the John Templeton Foundation, the Templeton World Charity Foundation, the Templeton Religion Trust, the Walton Family Foundation, and the Fulbright Foundation.

What: Enjoy a Midrasha-style evening of learning with other adults from the community, with a focus on the Teen Brain.
Cost: The event is free, underwritten by a grant from Scientists in Synagogues, but a donation is always appreciated!
