Thursday Evening Team Evaluations at Millcreek
These are individual evaluations of human-animal teams who have taken the
Pet Partners Online Handler Training Course and believe they have the skills
and aptitude to become a visiting therapy team. Though it is not a
requirement, we encourage handlers to take the Therapy Animals of Utah Fur-Real
Handler Practicum before signing up for their team evaluation in order
to better prepare themselves for this friendly but rigorous test.
The handler will be role-playing a visit to a real facility with two licensed
Pet Partners Team Evaluators and 4 volunteers, displaying the obedience skills
their animal has, such as walking on a loose lead, sit, down, stay, and come
when called. The handler will also be showing that they know how to
support their animal as they walk through a crowd, pass another animal, and
encounter people who move clumsily, use medical equipment, use high, low, and
angry voices, and gather to pet the animal all at once. The handler
and animal must be groomed and dressed appropriately for visiting in a clean
Evaluations are by appointment only. Contact
