'Winter Waltz' March Concert

Join the Metropolitan Youth Symphony as they perform an in-person concert on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 7:30pm at the St. Charles Convocation Hall at Lewis University (101 Airport Rd, Romeoville). Pay-What-You-Wish Donations are accepted online and at the door.

The 55-piece orchestra will celebrate Johann Strauss' 200th Birthday with a 'Winter Waltz' concert under the direction of Peter Lipari. Maestro Lipari is the Director of Orchestras at Joliet Township High School and Music Director of the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Symphony Singers, and Festival Orchestra. 

The concert program will include Strauss' Emperor Waltzes and Fledermaus Overture to celebrate the 200th birthday of "The King of the Waltz." In addition, MYSO will perform Gayane Selections by Khachaturian, Four Characteristic Waltzes by Coleride-Taylor, and Intermezzo from Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana.


A pre-concert event for MYSO's G.E.M. members will feature refreshments and a special 'Behind the Music' Conversation with Dr. Mike McFerron at 6:45pm.  To become a G.E.M., visit www.mysomusic.org/gem.
