'From Broadway to Beethoven' Fall Concert

Join the Metropolitan Youth Symphony as they perform an in-person concert on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 3:00pm
at the Fine Arts Auditorium at Joliet Junior College, Building K (Joliet location). Pay-What-You-Wish Donations are accepted online and at the door.
The 'From Beethoven to Broadway' concerts feature a 50-piece orchestra under the direction of Peter Lipari. Maestro Lipari is the Director of Orchestras at Joliet Township High School and Music Director of the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Symphony Singers, and Festival Orchestra.
The
concert program will include the first movement of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, Egmont Overture, Music from FROZEN and the Suite from Hamilton (Lin-Manuel Miranda).
MYSO is pleased to feature Violinist Cara Schlecker with the additional performances of Meditation from 'Thais' and Czardas. An alumna of The University of Michigan and the Robert McDuffle Center for Strings, she is the current concertmaster of the West Suburban Symphony and former member of The Civic Orchestra of Chicago. She has performed internationally in the Rome Chamber Music Festival and InterHarmony Festival of Hinterzarten, Germany. She has been featured on Chicago's classical station WFMT radio's "Introductions." Ms. Schlecker has performed and toured with artists such as Rod Stewart, R.E.M.'s Mike Mills, Chuck Leavell, Jo Dee Messina, the "Ten Tenors" of Broadway, and Martin Short. A frequent recitalist, Ms. Schlecker has performed chapter recitals on behalf of the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Wagner Society of America.
