This lecture offers an essential introduction to nonmonogamy, designed to equip you with the knowledge and tools to foster a more inclusive and supportive therapeutic environment. The session will demystify non-monogamy by exploring key vocabulary, nonmonogamous structures, and common misconceptions. It will also address the concept of mononormative bias—unpacking how societal narratives and internalized beliefs can impact our practice and the well-being of non-monogamous clients.

J Farrington (they/he) is currently pursuing a BA in Psychology and Gender Studies at Mount Holyoke College. With five years of lived, community experience in consensual nonmonogamy, J brings a personal perspective to this topic that is useful to clinicians, practitioners, and other community members. They are passionate about promoting inclusive and informed conversations on this topic.
