Instructor: Shametra Rozzel
Saturday, June 15th | 10–4pm
This class is for anyone that has a dusty sewing machine sitting in their closet! This one day workshop will guide you through all the steps of using a sewing machine. We will familiarize ourselves with the anatomy of the machine, learn how to properly thread, wind a bobbin, and sew a straight stitch with even tension, all the while discussing tips and tricks for a stress free experience. You will leave class confidently able to use your machine. Feel free to bring your own if you have one, or Praxis has several for you to try (we can even play with the industrial machines)!
Instructor Bio: Shametra is a multi-dimensional artist that intersects all aspects of design with various healing modalities of the physical form. Raised in Cleveland, Ohio, immersed in the world of art through both parents, she continued on a creative path by receiving a B.F.A in Fashion Design at Kent State University. There she found the textile studio which sparked a focus on studying the interrelationship of textiles and fashion design. Shametra has over 15 years of sewing experience and knowledge from machine function to making functional clothing!
