Can't Go? Help Send Another!
?Doris Wurzbach Scholarship Fund
Doris was in her 80’s when she first traveled with us to the far north to work in villages deep in the Taiga. We traveled by primitive trains to the north, and then through the forest in shaky old vans to the edge of a river where we loaded our supplies into small leaky fishing boats to cross the river. Once, we traveled all night (sunset to after sunrise) through the forest in vans held together with wires, cutting away trees that had fallen across the road, and changed tires at 3 AM with wild animals howling in the nearby forest. Not once did she ever complain.
Even when she was in her 90's, every time we saw her, she wanted to know when can she go back to the Taiga with us. There is a season to our lives, and now it is too dangerous for her. As you can imagine, when we told her, she was terribly disappointed, and tears came to her eyes.
Agape has decided to set up a scholarship fund in her name to send others who want to go, but don’t have the financial resources. In this way, Doris will still be going for another 100 years! I can imagine her looking down from heaven, watching the people go because of the Scholarship Fund and wishing she could be there with them.
If you are like Doris and want to go to the “Ends of the Earth,” but physically can’t go, we invite you to be involved by giving to the Scholarship Fund to support others who can physically go but don’t have the full financial resources. Will you financially help another to go to the “Ends of the Earth”!
