we have identified communities in need of your support for basic survival needs
like water and shelter. These locals not only need to rebuild their homes, but
also work to get their places of employment up and running to ensure
future income. They are dependent on
tourism, and will have no source of income if their island commerce is not
Hurricane Irma has left behind
unfathomable damage throughout the Eastern Caribbean Islands, Cuba, and
Florida. This tragic storm made landfall in the islands of St. Maarten
and St. Thomas as one of the worst and largest Category 5 hurricanes in history.
With wind speeds of 185mph, island residents who could not flee endured catastrophic
and dangerous conditions. Once Irma left the islands, the media coverage
left with it in order to continue coverage of the hurricane’s path.
In St. Maarten and St. Thomas, most
homes and businesses are gone or severely damaged. There is very little food, no water, and limited
