A Global Day of Giving.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. (Source)
The HUB's Story
A few local artists started a discussion. A discussion that centered around the idea of the arts’ impact of a rural community. We asked the questions ‘What is the importance of the arts in our communities?’ and ‘Why isn’t there an art center in our communities?’ These questions eventually led us to ask the question ‘Why don’t we start an art center?’ Followed by ‘Are we the only ones who think our we need an art center?’ With that discussion, we began this journey.
The HUB is a very young organization, but has already made an impact on the communities it serves. We provide arts programing to all ages. So far, we offer an after-school program, a Rock and Roll Academy, a birth to 3 class as well as clay, painting, and drawing classes. Our programs continue to grow. The gallery space gives artists a chance to exhibit their work to our local communities and gives our communities a chance to interact with art and artists. At least one of our questions was answered: We are not the only ones who think our rural communities need and deserve an art center.
We are very grateful to our communities for their continued support of our programs and exhibitions.
