House of Hope
Tender Hearts House of Hope is a 9-month "back to work" program for single women or woman with children. This program is designed to provide counseling, education, and job training to empower women to get off the welfare system and thrive in today's economic environment.
The goal for each client is to provide resources and advice in order and break the cycle so that their children and future generations will not have to suffer from poverty. We are not a program to just put a band-aid on the problem by giving out free items but we are offering a hand-up by teaching our clients life-skills necessary for success.
Our program addresses the emerging community need of hunger and homelessness. 58%of York, SC is at or below the poverty level. When a client has an addiction such as drugs and/or alcohol, it takes two years to change a habit according to recent psychological research. With our House of Hope program the clients get 9 months to learn how to make better decisions with their jobs, children, finances, and living situations.
