Project Break Free 2018
Brought to you by Rose 2 Hope
Project Break Free is an annual week-long youth summit held in New York City during the summer designed to bring together urban, at-risk youth from different area together and empower them. The objective is to help youth find their purpose, and to also arrange for them to visit organizations that they may aspire to attend or be a part of, and meet individuals of similar of backgrounds who have succeeded in their field of interests. Project Break Free gives the selected youth hope, and our hope is to enlighten them that their circumstances or background do not dictate their future, but rather their perseverance, discipline, hard work and uncompromising faith in their dreams will take them out of their current circumstance and into an empowering, fulfilling future. Likewise, in bringing together youth from different areas together, they can share their experiences with each other and freely discuss topics that affect them such as poverty, racism, discrimination, social injustice, inequality and importantly how to address and overcome. This year, we are working and fundraising to bring youth together from New Jersey, New Orleans and Denver. The selected youth group, despite many of their circumstances and challenges, are dreaming big, have set the bar high for themselves and are putting in the work to succeed because of organizations and teachers that believe in them. They come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, a representative face of America, and are the future leaders of tomorrow. They aspire to become future engineers, doctors, teachers, artists and entrepreneurs. Now is the time to invest in them and show them that indeed their dreams are possible and great opportunities await for them outside of their neighborhood or circumstance.
As part of the summit, the youth group will get to tour prestigious institutions and other organizations in the vicinity (Columbia, NYU, Stevens Institute of Technology, Spotify, ROC Nation, SiriusXM, People En Español and other prestigious organizations). For many, it would be the first time they will have travelled outside of their community. The funds raised would be utilized to cover the following:
- the youth's transportation (airfare and getting around the NYC area)
- tours of NYC landmarks.
We cordially invite you to join us for a fundraising dinner for the youth group on Wednesday, August 1st at the Chart House Restaurant in Weehawken, NJ (information below). You may purchase your ticket through the donation link below and simply state your donation is for the fundraising dinner and quantity of tickets.
