Send a Copy of The New Jim Crow to a Prisoner
Educators, theologians, social-cultural anthropologists, activists, advocates, abolitionists, and many other critical thinkers across the U.S. continue to compare the prison industrial complex to slavery and Jim Crow laws.
Since 2010, Michelle Alexander’s book, The New Jim Crow, has affirmed these beliefs with hard facts, statistical data, and following the money.
-Exposes the financial machine behind incarceration
-Reveals the intentions of the so-called War on Drugs
-Explores the devastating impact it has had on black and brown bodied persons, their families and communities
-Suggests why it seems insurmountable for incarcerated persons to ever become fully free in this insidious structure of mass incarceration and mass deportation
The book was initially distributed in prisons and later banned twice. Recent efforts from the ACLU resulted in the ban being lifted in NC and NJ.
Help us get this important book behind the prison walls in NC! Faith 4 Justice Asheville has partnered with Movement In Faith to organize this effort!
Purchase a book to send to our neighbors, friends, and family members who are currently incarcerated in the NC prison system.
Please donate increments of $30 to cover the cost of each book and distribution. You may also write in any amount to cover shipping and distribution if you are not able to cover the full cost of a book. Every donation is welcome.
