Hey my name is Charlie VanMeter. I am 23 years old and have recently returned from Perth, Australia where I attended their Sports Discipleship Training School. While I was there, through words that God gave me, I learned that my next steps will be to attend the School of Biblical Studies with YWAM Sunshine Coast in Australia. I am feeling called into full-time missions. When I was in France, the base wanted us to get a taste of second level schools and the one that they put together was the School of Biblical Studies. It was very small compared to the full course, but we met two days a week to attend a very basic version of what the SBS actually is.

Ever since I took that class, I fell in love with it. We attacked the Bible as if we were lawyers looking into an investigation. In this school, we will be spending 9 months approximately 50-60 hours a week (not including class time) digging into the Bible. We are projected to go through the Bible 5-6 times while I am there. We will be surveying each book and discovering the big picture, while also digging into the details, paragraph by paragraph. Emphasis will be place on understanding the cultural and historical background of each author and original reader of the book. I will be interpreting Scripture with the mindset of the original reader and taking the timeless truths and applying them personally. I will also be receiving hands on instruction in the principles of observation, interpretation and application. My hope is that this will better prepare me for my future in ministry and everyday walk with Christ.

With all the words of confirmation I got while in Discipleship Training School in Perth and Biarritz, I am confident to attack the school head on. I have heard it is a very demanding and intense course, but with having a strong word to hold onto, I am excited for the future. Unlike DTS, finances for this course are due upfront. The school itself is $8,841. I will also need a one way ticket to Brisbane, medical, visa and spending money. The number will be more specific as I get the details in the near future.

These last few years I have seen God move in so many different ways, and he has confirmed to me his faithfulness through my obedience. He has truly shown me in times of doubt that when he calls me he will equip me. As my community of friends, family, and church in this line of ministry I rely on your involvement not just through finances (although that is critical) but also through prayer, encouragement, communication, affirmation, etc.. The list goes on. You guys have such a huge role in what I do and I am so thankful for every single one of you.
