Known and loved by so many – a man who spent his life serving those who needed a helping hand – a man who served God – a man who served man. Fr. Gerry understood those he served had a variety of needs.
Fr. Creedon created programs, started non-profit organizations, spoke a number of languages and was a Pastor to thousands. When one thinks of a servant, Fr.Creedon must come to mind.
I heard about Fr. Creedon years before I actually met him. We had many talks over the years discussing how the programs of Catholics for Housing could help those within our communities that need assistance.
He understood the need for adequate housing and the value of helping families create a stable home. He understood the need to provide education to enhance the life skills of our participants and help them work toward self-sufficiency. He understood the difficulties of the elderly who must live on very limited incomes. He understood the importance and the value of helping people create sustainable homes.
For thirty-eight years, Catholics for Housing has worked to fulfill Fr. Creedon’s vision. He and a group of Catholic Laity founded CFH in response to the US Catholic Bishop’s Letter, “A Right to a Decent Home”. Five years ago, Fr. Creedon called me to ask if I thought he could be helpful if he returned as an active CFH Board member. It was a pleasure to work with him as a CFH Board member.
Thank you, Fr. Creedon
Well done, good and faithful Servant
To honor the life-time work of Fr. Creedon and his commitment to helping seniors have a stable home, Catholics for Housing has established a fund to support the CFH Senior Rental Subsidy Program in Fr. Creedon’s memory. Your gift will help fulfill Fr. Creedon’s dream that every senior who can live on their own may do so, regardless of their income.
