Repair nuns' residence-meditation building
Serving the Maha Ghosananda Children's Dharma Center in Battambang,Cambodia
There are tens of thousands of at-risk children in Cambodia unable attend or complete primary school, victims of impoverished or broken families afflicted in most cases by domestic violence including child abuse.
A Buddhist head nun, Dounji Ly SaVy, has been a guardian angel to many vulnerable children at Wat Poveal, a temple-monastery in Battambang province. The Children's Dhamma Center at the nuns' center of Wat Poveal plans to open a program for 40 of these at-risk primary school age children (20 boys, 20 girls) at the beginning of the 2022 school year in September. When they are not in class at the nearby public primary school (pupils attend a morning or afternoon half-day session), they will benefit from the Dharma teachings and activities led by the nuns. Help us help the nuns restore and their primary residence & meditation building, which is in need of structural repair. It will allow the team of younger nuns teaching at and running the Center to live in the kutis (monastic cells) on the top floor. Thank you for donating to this much needed project!
