We’re thrilled to be sharing the screen for a night with Sanjay Rawal, Director of Food Chains and one of our fantastic Real Food Films advisors. Hosted by Real Food Films anchor school, Occidental College, we can guarantee a whole lot of real food storytelling prowess will collide. Join Real Food Media founder Anna Lappé with faculty hosts John Lang and Ari Laskin and Joann Lo of Food Chain Workers Alliance as we debut the Voices of the Food Chain project in Los Angeles and launch the third year of Real Food Films, our international short films contest featuring stories about food, farming and sustainability. Choi Auditorium (Johnson 200) Nov. 16, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM __________________________________________________ Oxy Cinematheque Presents: In Food Chains, an intrepid group of Florida farmworkers battle to defeat the $4 trillion global supermarket industry through their ingenious Fair Food program, which partners with growers and retailers to improve working conditions for farm laborers in the United States. Following the screening there will be a Q &A and panel discussion with the director Sanjay Rawal. Anna Lappé of Real Food Media and Joann Lo of the Food Chain Workers Alliance will be speaking about the launch of their new Voices of the Food Chain series featuring portraits and StoryCorps conversations among farmworkers, warehouse and distribution workers, line cooks and servers across the food chain. Brought to you by the generous support of Occidental Colleges’ Sociology and Art History & Visual Arts departments, The Remsen Bird Fund, Media Arts & Culture Program, OxyArts, and the Sustainability Initiative.

ABOUT Real Food Media (a project of INFACT dba Corporate Accountability International)

REAL FOOD MEDIA: powerful storytelling and media to inspire, educate and grow the movement for sustainable food and farming. We recognize that every year agribusiness, biotech and agrochemical companies spend hundreds of millions of dollars to shape what people believe is sustainable, healthy and fair. Our Project works to combat this misinformation with creative communications that rely on research, not rhetoric. We are a clear and synthesizing voice for the sustainable food movement, popularizing complex ideas and policy for a general audience. We are a communications resource, creating our own content and catalyzing storytelling that otherwise would not occur. Through our initiatives, we inspire and motivate people to believe that changing the food system is possible and to perceive ways that they can make a difference, both large and small.
