The Caldwell Pigs
Help us rehabilitate the Caldwell Pigs!
Thank you so much for supporting CTPR. This donation campaign is for supporting the Caldwell Pigs!
We recently took in 133** pigs from a local large-scale seizure in Caldwell County, TX. These pigs will require above and beyond our typical monthly cost, and medical expenses. A full vetting and spay/neuter program is estimated to cost almost $100,000! These costs will incur as we go through the recovery cycle of the rescued pigs.
There will be a large amount of funds needed in the first 3 months to cover initial vetting and vaccinations followed quickly by neuter costs. With all the males neutered, we will be able to schedule out the spays as funds allow.
Below is an estimated breakdown based on our past expenses:
- Initial Vetting, Supplements, and Vaccinations - Minimum $200/pig ($24,400 total estimated cost for 122** pigs)
- Neuter of Male Pigs - Average $175/pig ($7,875 average estimated cost for 45 male pigs)
- Spay of Female Pigs - Average $600/pig ($52,800 average estimated cost for 88 female pigs)
** Our initial intake was of 25 special needs newborns. Due to the genetic and environmental conditions the babies were born into, we were not able to save them all and lost 11 in the first 2 weeks, but the remaining newborns are getting stronger every day and are included in the 122 pigs the cost estimates are based on.
