Update: Please help the largest Hunger relief organization in the Florida Keys respond to a disaster of biblical proportions. Our services are going to be needed now more than ever and although attention is focused on our chain of islands right now, the need will continue long after FEMA has left. The direct hit of hurricane Irma has left our food pantry with a damaged roof. Now we need all the help we can get to insure we can serve the community of Key West. We were already recognized by the USDA as providing 70% of the emergency meals countywide prior to this disaster, but we will have to do even more going forward.
With the highest cost of living in the state and an almost complete lack of affordable housing, 49% of Monroe County residents identified themselves as "struggling" in a survey conducted by the United Way of the Florida Keys in 2014. The SOS Foundation helps our community members by providing food security, not only through our food pantry but through our after school meals program and nutrition education courses for low-income children. Be a part of the movement today and donate.
