Establishing a Lung Center near Maasai Mara, Kenya
International Asthma Services plans to establish a Lung Center in Narok, Kenya. Over the past year, Dr. PK Vedanthan has been in communication with Mr. Itole Sunte, a pharmacist and a social activist in Narok, Kenya.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narok). Many are familiar with this area of Kenya since it is the home of the well-known Maasai tribal people. Maasai people are famous for their good physique, valor, and their distinct tribal attire and dance. Unfortunately, they too suffer from a high incidence of Asthma and other pulmonary issues like COPD and Allergies as well. These are all based upon purely clinical impressions and suspicion. Dr. PKV has been approached by Mr. Sunte, a severe asthmatic himself about his recent hospitalization for acute flare-up. There is not even a Nebulizer in his hospital, forget the rest. He wrote to Dr. PKV regarding similar plights of several folks in the community. IAS is planning to take up this cause and set up a Lung Center at the local hospital. The budgeted expense is around USD $10,000.00 (see below). IAS is hereby appealing for funding to support and realize this important and needy cause. Thank you for your help!
