The Story of Emily
Imagine you have a daughter named Emily, a bright, kind beautiful girl. She struggles with communication, processing information, and social interactions and as a result, the teachers and administration at your school have labeled her as unable to learn. She becomes invisible at the school - not included in programs such as art and music shows because "she wouldn't notice anyway". Imagine going from school to school to school being told the same thing but knowing deep in your heart, it isn't true.
This is a true story and when Emily joined Arbor School at the age of 13, her mother was sure we were going to tell her the same thing. But. We. Didn't. We worked with Emily to help improve her communication and social skills. She worked hard in her classes to gain the knowledge that she craved. It took many years of hard work on everyone's part and today Emily is an outgoing, independent, college student looking toward a bright future!
Emily is just one of our students who was able to attend Arbor School through our Scholarship Fund. According to the US Department of Agriculture, the cost to raise a child is roughly $240,000 with the costs quadrupling for children with special needs. For families with modest incomes, the costs can be catastrophic. Arbor School believes that all children deserve the chance for a quality education that will prepare them to be contributing members of our community. That being said, it is our mission to never turn families away due to their financial standing and/or ability to pay full tuition. In 2017 - 2018, Arbor School awarded to 64% of the students. Scholarships range from $2,000 - $14,500 with an average award of $7,030 for a total of $435,874.
We are asking you to join in our Support of our Students. All funds will go toward our Scholarship Fund to help other students achieve their dreams.
