Board Governance Series: Governance Fundamentals
Equip your board members with the fundamentals of effective governance!
What is the Effective Board Governance series?
Nonprofit board members enrich and govern an organization with their personal expertise, connections, and passion for the cause — and yet, they don’t always come to the job with experience in things like nonprofit fundraising or governance. CVNL knows what strong, smart boards looks like— and how critical they are for the health of an organization. Our three-part series on board governance helps organizations diagnose their boards’ needs and equip their board members with the right training and resources to take their leadership to the next level.
We have divided board governance practices into three (3) workshops: Fundamentals, Structure, and Development.
This series is ideal for nonprofit Executive Directors/CEOs and nonprofit board members. Board chairs and those serving in an officer position or are thinking of doing so, will find the sessions particularly useful.
Workshop 1 - Fundamentals of Effective Governance:
The first step in creating a strong, smart, and effective board is understanding the fundamentals of what exactly makes a board for a nonprofit organization work, and how best to utilize your board within your nonprofit structure. This course provides a solid foundation to deepen understanding of nonprofit governance and how to better align the work of the board to heighten engagement and maximize impact. The focus of this course is on the roles and responsibilities of individual board members and the collective board.
Join board governance expert Linda Jacobs in the first workshop of our Effective Board Governance series where you'll be given the best tools to maximize the impact of your board. Take advantage of this hands-on workshop opportunity to further develop and improve the effectiveness of your board!
