Haiti Earthquake Relief
On the night of Saturday October 6th, a magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck northwest Haiti. At least 12 people were killed and 188 were wounded. The quake was centered about 11 miles (18 kilometers) from the coastal city of Port-de-Paix. This is the strongest earthquake to hit Haiti since the devastating 2010 earthquake that killed at least 220,000 people and injured over 300,000 people.
HEP has a team on the ground in Gros Morne and Port-de-Paix working to coordinate a relief effort. Over 700 families are in need of shelter due to their homes being destroyed by the quake or rendered unsafe. Your donation will help provide tents for temporary housing, emergency medical supplies, food, water, and other necessary items for those impacted by the quake.
We appreciate your support. Thank you for standing in solidarity with the Haitian people.
