Bikes Create Community
Donate and help us get more people on bicycles
Dear Friend,
Thank you for clicking that “Donate” button, for donating a bike, or donating time by volunteering. You can always skip the processing fees, and make a check out to Bike Library. Mail it to: 1222 S. Gilbert Ct. Iowa City, IA 52240 or drop it off at the shop. Our hours are: Wednesdays 12 - 5; Fridays 12 - 5; Saturdays 10 - 3.
Our work at the Bike Library isn’t possible without our magical community, and that means you!
In 2022, we hit new benchmarks, cycling 858 bikes back into the community and raising a total of $27,792 to support our mission of equity, community outreach, and sustainability.
Your support means we are better-equipped to provide anyone who walks through our doors with bikes, accessories, and the knowledge and confidence needed to get more places on two wheels. Last year we gave away 170 free bikes, moved to a free/donation-based model for open wrench hours, and led 29 shop rides aimed to boost confidence riding on any surface.
We cultivate a shop culture where folks from all backgrounds and skill levels can come together, feel supported, and learn new skills. We collaborate with partner organizations to meet both immediate and changing transportation and recreation needs in our community. We have big plans for 2023, and you’re invited to dream with us.
Looking forward, we will continue to center programming for underrepresented folks. We are expanding our free bike repair “pop-ups” in underserved neighborhoods, church parking lots, and school playgrounds. We have invested in energy efficiency upgrades to our physical space and are preparing for a make-over of our parking lot with greenspace and stormwater management in mind.
We kindly ask for you to consider donating an ongoing, monthly sustaining gift. We graciously accept one-time donations too.
Peace & Grease,
Audrey Wiedemeier
Executive Director
