#GivingTuesday is a global campaign to create a day of giving to kick off the giving season. In the same way that retail stores take part in Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the giving community comes together for #GivingTuesday!
This #GivingTuesday give some love to Washington, DC’s Duke Ellington School of the Arts and help to support talented high school students who might not otherwise have an opportunity to develop their artistic skills. Cultivating critical thinking, art making, self-discovery, and technical development—our students study one of eight artistic disciplines: dance, instrumental music, literary media & communications, museum studies, technical design & production, theatre, visual arts, or vocal music.
Whether they decide to pursue college degrees or go directly for professional arts opportunities, our dedicated students grow through intensive training and numerous opportunities to exhibit their artwork as well as to perform, publish, and document their experience. The class of 2018 had a graduation rate of 100% and a college acceptance rate of 98%. Of Duke Ellington’s 2018 graduating class, 103 students received over $9.5 million in college scholarships and are attending top-tier universities, conservatories and arts schools across the country.
Your #GivingTuesday contribution will help support:
- Instruction in all eight artistic disciplines: Dance, Instrumental or Vocal Music, Literary Media & Communications, Museum Studies, Technical Design & Production, Theatre, and Visual Arts;
- Opportunities to learn and perform outside of the classroom, such as master classes with visiting artists or trips to participate in conferences and festivals;
- Materials necessary for students to explore their art – from sheet music to costumes, from arts supplies to photography and video equipment;
- Ellington’s Shepherding program, which provides additional academic, personal, and financial support for the school’s neediest students and helps all students navigate Ellington’s demanding program of arts and academics.
Your donation will help make it possible for Duke Ellington School of the Arts to give students the opportunity to expand their artistic vision and solidify pathways to academic success through an intensive arts education.
