November 6, 2018
Dear Family and Friends,
Many of us are able to live with the basic conveniences of life. We take these things for granted: having a roof over our head, food to eat, clothes to wear, and access to a reasonable quality of life. This time of the year is more important than ever to remember those less fortunate and in need of our help.
Today, I am asking for your help on behalf of the thousands of students attending school in the Norwalk/La Mirada Unified School District. Eighty-nine percent of these students live below the poverty level and are considered homeless. Did you know that the average age of a homeless person is nine years old? I know that sounds unbelievable, but it is true.
Through our “Silent No More” Project, n-ACTION Family Network has donated over $20,000 in uniform gift cards to homeless students and their families since 2010 to support the McKinney-Vento Assistance Act. These underprivileged students are identified as homeless because they live in hotels, motels, with family members, or someone’s garage. We are told these gift cards make a big difference to these families. Will you help make a difference?
Our #Giving Tuesday campaign begins on Tuesday, November 27. You can help simply by making a monetary gift donation of $50 or more to. Our goal is to help approximately 270 homeless students at the Morrison Elementary School, our adopted school for 2018-2019, and their families. We believe that any small act of kindness can make a difference. We are a 501(c) (3) organization, so your donation is tax deductible.
Please take a look at our Homeless PSA video clip located on our home page and see why we are so passionate about the work we are doing to help the least of these. Your support is vital to our success and very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your donation. Wishing you peace and all the best during this holiday season.
