In Pogradec, Albania, there is a severe shortage of services for children with disabilities and learning differences such as Down Syndrome and autism. Nehemiah Gateway is one of the only organizations there offering speech and physical therapies and special education services free of charge. We work with about 50 children per year at our Buçimas campus. Space and staffing constraints mean that we are at capacity and cannot accept additional children. We are fundraising to build two additional therapy/class rooms, with attached waiting area and bathroom, adjacent to our existing clinical space. We will hire additional staff when the new rooms are complete. This will allow us to amplify our impact by increasing the hours available to each child, and adding about 10 new children per year—children who would be unlikely to access essential early services otherwise.
Your donation will help give about 60 low-income Albanian children improved tools to interact with their world, and, for some, the skills they need to go to school, gain an education, and live independently.
Generous longtime NG donors have offered to match gifts to this campaign this holiday season at 100%-- so your gift will have double the impact (as long as funds last)!
