In February 2019 I will be running my second self-sufficient stage race, this one in New Zealand. It will be the first time I am taking the opportunity to support a charity.
My story started at the Grand to Grand Ultra Race in September 2018. Going there, I thought It would be hard and I would cry from time to time because of pain, blisters and soreness due to the distance we were running every day – at least a marathon/day repeated over 7 days. But actually, what brought me to tears at the end of every day was when members of the Jar Of Hope team made it through. Me and everyone else were so happy they reached their goal and the camp!
The first day, on the bus ride, I was sitting next to James, the founder of the Jar of Hope foundation. I asked him to explain the story behind his team’s mission. I can’t describe how emotionally touched I felt about the horrific disease called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and how heartbroken I was thinking of his son and all of the other kids afflicted with it who will never be able to run.
I often think we are here for a reason, so I am now taking the chance to do something that matters to me, and to others. Joining the fight to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is something extremely important to me! So, friends, friends of friends, family and anyone else I can get this message to, I NEED YOUR HELP!
Perhaps you can’t leave your work and your regular life to support me in person but for sure you can now decide to help us – to help me – raise money for such a worthy cause! It matters not what you can donate but I would deeply appreciate any monetary consideration you can offer.
