Krewe du Kanaval 2019
February 21st and 22nd 2019
“Kanaval” is the Haitian Creole word for Carnival. Krewe du Kanaval is a year-round community, working to honor and celebrate the cultures that have enriched New Orleans’ identity and arts for hundreds of years.
The Krewe raises funds to benefit the Preservation Hall Foundation and KANPE - two non-profit organizations which serve important unmet social and cultural needs in New Orleans and Haiti.
Kanaval will take place on February 22 in the French Quarter and Congo Square, and we are partnering with the historic Civic Theater for this year’s Kanaval Ball. The Krewe will be gathering the evening before on Thursday, February 21st for another memorable welcome party at Latrobe's on Royal. Membership benefits for the 2019 event are outlined below.
This year’s Kanaval Queen is legendary chef Leah Chase, with King DJ Jubilee, pioneer of New Orleans Bounce music. Our incredible talent line-up includes: masters of haitian roots music Boukman Eksperyans, Diplo and Jillionaire of Major Lazer, DJ Michael Brun from Haiti, and of course Win Butler and Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
If you are not able to come this year, please consider maintaining your membership to keep your spot in the Krewe and continue to support the charitable partners. Any member who can’t attend the festivities can gift their membership to a person of their choosing, or we’ll use your spot to donate to local New Orleans or Haitian artists. Just check the box that you will be unable to attend.
Custom membership packages available upon request. Please email email@example.com for more information.
