Volunteer with VOAD
West Virginia VOAD responds to disaster related needs across the entire state of West Virginia, addressing both immediate issues such as supplying food and water to long term recovery. WV VOAD has worked diligently since June 23, 2016 in each of the twelve counties devastated by the historic thousand-year flood. To date, WV VOAD and its member organizations have assisted over 1800 West Virginia families return to safe, secure, sanitary housing and delivering $38 million in services. However, at this halfway point in the anticipated five-year recovery period, much work remains to be accomplished to complete the recovery of several hundred families. Our data indicates that more than 700 West Virginia families have not yet achieved recovery and have requested assistance from the WV VOAD. In short, it appears that WV VOAD will be tasked with assisting at least 350 more families with home reconstruction, major and minor repairs, mobile home replacement and private bridge replacement. An estimated $10 million will be required to complete our state’s recovery using volunteer labor. Will you help the families of West Virginia complete their long-awaited recovery from the 2016 disaster? If so then sign up to volunteer or donate.
