Megan Lowe Dances
A fiscally sponsored project of Dancers' Group.
With an affinity for dynamic places and partners, Megan Lowe Dances shifts your perspective. Directed by a fierce female choreographer of Chinese and Irish descent, MLD explores complex identities and experiences by tackling unusual physical situations and inventing compelling solutions, opening up the imagination to what is possible. Their dances demonstrate the "intensely-physical, curiously-playful, delightfully-weighty rigor of physicality” (Life as a Modern Dancer).
MLD deepens connections with Asian American Pacific Islander communities through relationships with organizations such as Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center; the creation of public art in SF Chinatown as part of efforts to revitalize the community during the pandemic; and choreographic commissions celebrating Asian influences on American culture/s.Their recent works have been seen at de Young Museum, David Ireland House, ODC, Legion of Honor Museum, Willie “Woo Woo” Wong Playground, and Joe Goode Annex, as well as in the 19th Annual SF Trolley Dances and the 24th and 25th Annual United States of Asian America Festivals.
Megan Lowe Dances artistic process thrives via collaboration, prioritizing creating relationships of respect, generosity, and gratitude. This culture of magnanimity is harnessed in the dance classes and workshops MLD leads all over the Bay Area, for organizations, schools, universities, and dance festivals. We serve movers of all different ages, experience levels, body types, races, cultures, and socio-economic status—building community and connection.

Piece of Peace: Gathering
A dynamic dance theater work that explores mixed-race Asian American Pacific Islander experiences. This project explores how AAPI power is rooted in cultivating solidarity among our BIPOC communities, and our cast is uniquely made up of mixed-race artists including those with histories of Asian, Pacific Islander, Black, Latinx, Middle Eastern, and white heritage. Through thoughtful text, soulful song, and dynamic dancing, we’re exploring the expansiveness of our mixed-identities, dreaming up possibilities for the futures of ourselves and our diverse communities.
