Help Us Renovate This Building Fund Campaign
All That Dance Studio, a 501 (c) nonprofit dance educational and performing arts studio, located just west of the City of Bridgeton in Hopewell Township has been on a month-to-month lease since May 2017 when its five year lease expired. In January 2018, the studio had a water pipe break and the studio suffered extensive water damage. Since this occurred, the directors began searching for a place to purchase. Finally in October 2018, a commercial building was purchased with the financial assistance from Century Savings Bank, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, and with studio and private funds. This newly purchased building will need renovations before it becomes the permanent home for All That Dance Studio.
Money was set aside for the renovations and we anticipated moving into our new studio within two months. Those two months have disappeared due to delays and these delays have been costly. Now we are paying rent on our present studio and a mortgage on a property that is unusable. We had anticipated purchasing a new dance floor; however, we just discovered that our existing mirrors cannot be moved. Now we do not have the funds to cover the renovations.
We are seeking funds to complete the renovations and to convert this newly purchased facility into a permanent venue for dance and performing arts program for the Greater Bridgeton community. When the renovations are completed, it will house two state-of-the-arts studios for dance, a lobby/foyer, office, ADA restroom, breakroom, a prop and costume room, and its own parking lot. Eventually we plan to convert an existing space to house an additional classroom space, which will allow us to expand our programs.
We have tried to do this on our own; however, our funds have dwindled and we need financial assistance. With your help, we will be able to convert this building into a dance educational and performing arts center that the Greater Bridgeton area needs. Your investment in the arts will go directly into our building fund to finance the architectural plans, construction permits, construction fees (electrical and heating repairs, new light fixtures, dry wall preparation, paint, new mirrors, and resilient sprung flooring for each studio). In addition, when we remove our dance barres, shelving, and pictures, we will need to repair the drywall in the rented studio. The projected cost for renovations is $16,000. With the support of the dance enthusiasts and community support, we will be able to meet our goal.
History: Since 2001, All That Dance Studio has provided dance and performing arts lessons to children and adults who reside in the Greater Bridgeton area and from Salem County. The studio has worked with local theatre productions, school plays, and community events. For many years its dancers volunteered and helped to raise funds for the Cumberland County Technical School's Dancing with the Cumberland County Stars and they helped to raise funds for Bridgeton's Dance Off, which benefited local community events. Its dancers have provided the entertainment for the Miss Cumberland County Pageant and for Hopewell's Community Day for several years and they have performed in the Miss America's Show Us Your Shoes Parade since the pageant returned to Atlantic City. Last year its company dancers auditioned and were selected to perform at Walt Disney World.
We believe that All That Dance Studio offers more than just dance. It has built a reputation for excellence in teaching children and adults to dance. Classes are taught by highly qualified dance professionals. Our teachers share their knowledge and love of dance in a nurturing atmosphere and they provide a diversified educational program to meet the needs of all their students, from the recreational dancer to the aspiring dancer. Its teachers are committed and provide an exceptional dance program for their students by promoting artistic expression in dance; inspiring and enhancing the lives of their students; cultivating life-long learners to appreciate the arts; and enriching the community by providing cultural and theatrical experiences, workshops, seminars, and performances. During the year dance and theatre professionals visit the studio and share their knowledge with the students in our guest artists' workshops. Many of our students would be unable to experience this opportunity otherwise. The studio also provides birthday parties, Parents' Night Outs, Dance Days, and special seasonal events. It offers an extensive summer program for all ages by offering summer dance camps, dance classes, dance related fitness programs, and dance intensives. It established a work study program with students who attend Bridgeton High School, a former Abbott District and now classified as one of the lowest socioeconomic districts in the New Jersey. The studio also provides assistance to those who may need help.
Please donate and spread the word to others. Help us keep dance alive in our community. Thank you!
