the little mustang that started it ALL!
Izzy was gathered from the Little Bookcliffs wild horse range in 2007. Left without any bids at the public adoption, she was trucked to Canon City holding facility on one of the prison properties there. A friend contacted Tracy and pleaded with her to adopt the little black mare from the wild horse area. Upon learning that the horse could be socialized by a prison inmate, Izzy was adopted and brought to Tracy's home is Grand Junction, CO. Eight weeks later, the mare gave birth to Casanova on February 14th! With three horses on two acres, it was time to re-think space. And, to address the issues facing wild horses on public lands. Therefore, Tracy and Blaine founded Steadfast Steeds in 2010 to bring awareness to our nation's "living national treasure" as stated in the Free-roaming Wild Horse and Burro Act of 1971.
A noteworthy fact is that Izzy is the face of the Sanctuary logo!
Izzy currently lives with other socialized Mustangs and her son, Casanova, in Glade Park CO at Steadfast Steeds. Her passion is in helping young people experience acceptance while wrestling with their demons and others experience hope while coping with depressive life situations. Through active life-coaching sessions, Izzy mentors persons to eventually release whatever is not serving that person well.
