Whisker City Medical Fund
Providing medical care cats need to be healthy, happy and adoptable.
Funding Critical Medical Care
There are cats who come to us needing just a little more medical attention than many shelters can provide. These are cats who would make excellent pets, yet they suffer from injuries or illness. For a few hundred dollars of medical attention, we will be able to treat each of these cats and make them available for adoption.
Senior cats spend more time at the shelter than other cats do. It costs us more to care for an older cat because of this additional time. Regardless of age, all cats receive a complete check-up when they arrive and are spayed or neutered and micro-chipped. Our older cats often need more extensive medical care when they arrive and the Whisker City Medical Fund makes that possible.
When Bristol and Brier arrived at Whisker City, they had a severe case of calicivirus, were covered in scabs and were severely underweight. After months of medical treatment they have both made an amazing recovery and were finally able to enjoy watching the squirrels from the Whisker City catio. Now Bristol and Brier have found loving homes of their own where they are living life to the fullest.
When senior kitty, Rock, came to Whisker City, we noticed he was drinking a lot and walking on his back hocks. After a visit to the vet, it was confirmed that Rock has was diabetic and would require insulin. The cost and personal care that Rock requires may be a deterrent to many adopters, but thanks to the Whisker City Medical Fund, we are able to give Rock the care he deserves. Rock is currently receiving lots of love and attention from everyone at Whisker City until he finds his furever home.
