The Viewfinders Initiative
A member of Intersection for the Arts
The Viewfinders Initiative is dedicated to engaging and providing underserved and minority children in diversified art education within their community for the purpose of expanding and enriching the lives of our youth through broadening their perspective and giving them a voice, a way to express themselves. Through film, they can tell their own stories and see themselves reflected in the media they create. In a two-month workshop, students will learn how to use a camera, record audio, basic video editing, screenwriting, how to prepare a story and how to finalize the film. These films created by the adolescents will then be viewed in a local film festival showcasing their stories to their own community.
