Highlights from the 2018-19 School Year

Every year we count on support from individuals to keep the Playhouse running. Our fiscal year ends in 3 weeks (June 30) and this year we find ourselves $10,000 short of our goal!

The Teen Rep Company production of Sophocles' Antigone was a big hit in December, filling the house for two weekends and garnering great reviews from everyone. 6o Middletown High School students attended our student matinee. Between You and Me in May was an original, ensemble created play with music, derived from workshops & rehearsals over the winter & spring months. It was an emotional journey and powerful statement about issues concerning teens in today's world.

The First Middletown Teen Talent Search in February was a huge success.

28 young people from all over the State performed, the room was packed for the final showdown in the evening, and everyone is asking when the next one will be. We're thinking of winter 2020!

ARTFARM's Circus for a Fragile Planet (a touring circus company made up of 4 Oddfellows teaching artists) debuted its new show about climate change at the Playhouse in February.

The Servant of Two Masters was the first Junior Rep show (ages 12-14) in several years. This classic comedy filled the house for 3 performances in March, and is a big step in rebuilding programs for this age group.

This Spring we piloted a new Neighborhood Troupe Program at Chatham Court in Portland. The Troupe in Portland will continue, and we just received a small seed grant to start working at Maplewood Terrace in Middletown (where Oddfellows had Neighborhood Troupes for year). Help us bring back the arts to our least-resourced Neighborhoods!

Circophony's Circus Botanicus brought circus performance at Oddfellows to a new level under the direction of Allison McDermott.

Our Classes & Share Days brought smiles, skills and friendships to all!!
