We are absolutely delighted to announce the official launch of the Tanuki Society. For those of you who have been out of the loop, the Tanuki Society is the successor of the old Tanuki Clan gaming social club. We are now an honest-to-goodness non-profit organization, complete with tax exempt status and deductible donations. Under the stewardship of the Federation of Neighborhood Centers (FNC) in South Philly, we will be bringing to you the same outrageous, fun-filled events we have been known for over the years. But we won’t be stopping there; we’ll be bringing nerds of all kinds together in new, innovative, and inclusive social experiences.
There’s more to the Society then a slight name-change and this snazzy new website, though. Our ultimate goal now is to open a physical “clubhouse” in the Philadelphia-area. Think of our vision as a cross between a VFW or Elks Lodge combined with a traditional game store. To name just a few of the amenities that we’re planning on offering to members are: lots of gaming space, podcasting and streaming equipment, a board game library, limited food, a bar, and a modest gaming retail space. Unfortunately, that puts us on a long and, frankly expensive, road to this lofty target. In order to realize our vision, we will start building our coffers through the sale of merchandise, event income, and sponsorships. Many of you have been with us since the beginning and some of you have only recently heard of our club, but I know a lot of people reading this are already interested in helping us all achieve our collective dream. If you believe in our vision and want to get involved, we are offering you the chance to become one of the Tanuki Society’s Founding Fifty. Yes, that means that there is a hard cap of fifty founding memberships. With a tax-deductible donation of $50 (you knew the ask was coming), you will become a Founding Member for life! Now that’s more than just bragging rights, but a series of lifetime benefits and special treatment:
- Discounts on event entry fees and merchandise.
- Founders-only events.
- Early registration to events and merchandise.
- Free Founders upgrades to upcoming gear.
- Enhanced Discord privileges and role ID.
- A hug from Cameron (optional).
Whether or not you want to become one of the Society Founders, look out for upcoming events such as tournaments, board game nights, and bar crawls. Also, stay tuned here on this website for more announcements, articles and other nerd content. If you have an idea for events, articles, fundraisers, or just want to help out, contact us through our social media, because we’d be excited to have you. Remember: you belong here!
