“Wine-Down” with the Foundation for Community Betterment!
Town Point Virginia Wine Festival - Town Point Park, Downtown Norfolk Waterfront
Foundation of Community Betterment is a network of generous individuals
who believe a simple gesture that touches just one life can positively
impact an entire community. Simply put, we raise money for individuals
who demonstrate a philanthropic spirit, but who find themselves in
situations where they themselves need help.
local Norfolk/Virginia Beach chapter of Betterment has identified a
family who we believe embodies the spirit of our recipients. Sedonia
Triepel was just 16 when her life changed forever in December of 2018.
Sedonia was driving across Great Neck Road in Virginia Beach when she
was in a terrible car accident that left her with a traumatic brain
injury. Since her accident, Sedonia has undergone more than a dozen
surgeries on her brain and for 8 months has remained at a specialized
hospital in Atlanta in a minimally cognitive state. Her rehabilitation has been slow-going but she continues to make improvements over time.
With the support of her family and around-the-clock medical care,
Sedonia has made progress in her rehabilitation. She is now able to shake
and nod her head to yes or no questions, regaining her ability to
communicate at the most basic level. This is a promising first step in
her long-road of rehabilitation!
The Foundation for Community Betterment is raising funds through this event in hopes of helping her family make necessary adjustments to their
home with renovations and equipment that will make it
more accessible for Sedonia once she is able to come home.
