The Client and Family Assistance Project is at the heart of all of PJI's work. We recognize that the best outcomes for safe communities and reentry comes from people being afforded dignity and hope, and the maintenance of strong families and communities. PJI wants everyone to recognize the humanity of incarcerated men and women, and we work to support their well-being and their community connections.
Donations to the Client and Family Assistance Project help incarcerated people and their families remain in contact through phone calls and family visits, and finds pen pals for incarcerated people who don't have strong family connections. Donations to the project provide incarcerated men and women with hygiene items such as soap, toothbrushes, deodorant, and basic necessities like warm winter clothing and educational and art materials.
Your donations also help returning citizens get on their feet - your donations provide support in attaining birth certificates and drivers' licenses, finding housing, helping get clients ready for job interviews, and getting immediate medical and mental health access for folks who are entering a new system after a long incarceration.
