World Duchenne Awareness Day September 7th
JOIN THE FIGHT!
World Duchenne Awareness Day is Saturday, September 7th and you can JOIN THE FIGHT to end Duchenne muscular dystrophy and help all boys suffering with DMD by donating below or starting your very own fundraiser on behalf of Ryan's Quest!
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a progressive and devastating muscle disorder affecting 1 in every 3500 newborn boys. DMD causes a lose of both muscle function and independence. A child diagnosed with DMD is not able to produce a protein called dystrophin. Dystrophin acts as a glue that holds muscles together. Without dystrophin, muscles are not able to operate properly and will eventually suffer progressive damage. There is no way to stop the progression and boys with DMD generally lose their ability to walk by age 12. This rare disease has a 100% fatality rate and to date, there is no cure.
The mission of Ryan's Quest is to increase awareness of Duchenne muscular dystrophy with the purpose of allocating funds for research that has the greatest potential of finding a cure or treatment for this disease.
It is our HOPE to find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy to save the lives of thousands of boys affected by this disease and to provide them with a future of great opportunity.
Every little bit helps bring us closer to finding a cure and bring awareness to this devastating disease. THANK YOU!
