Rutherford Creek Restoration Project
Grassy Branch Creek
The Rutherford Creek Restoration Project connects communities with their local waterways through environmental restoration projects, providing volunteer opportunities that are improving the health of Grassy Branch Creek, a tributary to Rutherford Creek.
We will have no-contact volunteer opportunities available this summer and fall that will allow you to volunteer at Rutherford Creek safely during the COVID-19 pandemic. These events will help you learn skills in environmental restoration, and are open to adults that want to get outside, have fun, and help!
Through these volunteer activities, you will learn how to stabilize a creek bank. We will train you on how to drive anchors, run wire, and prepare to install green infrastructure that controls erosion. No more than two volunteers will be allowed to sign up per shift. Once you arrive we will have a work station set up for you and we will be instructing and supervising you from a safe distance. The instructor will be wearing a mask. You will need waders in the creek but we will provide those. Please join the mailing list to learn about these opportunities as they arise.
We want to thank Wyngate Estates HOA for its support of this project!
If you are interested in supporting the Rutherford Creek Restoration Project financially, please use the "donate" button to make a donation to this project. Your donation will support planting trees along the creek, installing rain gardens, stopping erosion on the creek bank, and organizing hundreds of volunteers to help us get it all done!
This cooperative project has been funded, in part, by an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Nonpoint Source program and the United States Environmental protection Agency.
