For several years, Friends of King (FOK) has partnered with our 6th grade Gifted Arts and Technology Magnet teachers in offering students the opportunity to participate in the three-day, two-night outdoor education programs. This year, our plan is to go to Camp High Trails Outdoor Science School (https://dirtyclassroom.com) in Big Bear, CA from October 2 to 4, 2019 (Wednesday - Friday). Students would be picked up from King MS on Wednesday morning and will return by Friday afternoon. This program is designed to immerse students in the beauty of nature while becoming real student scientists conducting studies and gathering data from their outdoor living laboratory. We requested later dates, but those were unavailable. However, having an overnight trip will be a great way to “kick off” their middle school experience, and will provide students with the special opportunity to bond as an entire 6th grade class.
