The Art City Project is an experiment in large-scale public art. For one four-week advertising cycle, we’re buying all of the outdoor advertising in San Francisco we can reach - billboards and buses, bus stops and BART stations, MUNI trains, street kiosks, all of it -we’re taking down ads, we’re putting up art. The multi-dimensional installation will feature work for local Bay Area artists alongside international artists and emerging talent. The Art City Project is designed to inject art back into mainstream conversation and help bridge the divide between the new tech economy and San Francisco’s arts and cultural communities.
