Lori Thomas, 63, of Lee’s
Summit, MO passed away on the morning of October 5, 2019, after a year-long
battle with brain cancer. A visitation will be held from 2:30-4:00 p.m.
followed by a 4:00 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, October 12, at Lee’s
Summit Community of Christ Congregation, 1101 Independence Ave., Lee’s Summit,
MO. She attended Graceland University from 1973-74; Kansas City College of
Medical and Dental from 1975-76; and Longview Community College from 1998-2000,
where she earned her Associate of Arts in Physical Sciences. During her career,
she worked as a Medical Assistant, mainly in the field of Gastroenterology; as
well as Flowers by Lori, where she specialized in arrangements for weddings and
any occasions. She was a long-time member of the Messiah Choir. Lori was a
lifetime member of the Community of Christ, and was always very active, helping
with youth groups (Zions League), summer camps, and had served as a music
director. Lori was preceded in death by her mother, Mary (Ackley) Chandler. She
is survived by her loving husband, Byron Thomas; father, Stanley Chandler;
children, Keely Cardwell and husband Casey, Chris Thomas and wife Morgan;
grandson, Cohen Cardwell; and siblings, Rae Jean Bolster, Gary Chandler and
