Creating Freedom Movements works to transform this deeply troubled world by cultivating cultures of connection, interdependence and reciprocity, and building infrastructures of justice and joy.
We do this through our year-long program which trains visionary skilled leaders, incubates grassroots social justice projects, and builds beloved community across multiple lines of difference. Through our program, participants:
Develop deep analyses of current situations
Build meaningful long-term relationships and cross-issue solidarity, increasing our collective power to resist oppression
Cultivate radical imaginations and wild freedom dreams that enable us to imagine alternative structures, institutions and ways of being
Develop the practical skills to manifest those visionary alternatives
Receive mentorship and support as they start doing that work of manifestation through the projects seeded during our program year
Cultivate joy and healing practices that maintain resilience through these long-haul processes
To continue this work, we need to grow our foundation of monthly supporters. Becoming a Monthly Supporter makes it possible for us to:
pay living wages to our workshop facilitators who are 87% BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), 70% poor & low income, 75% women, 62% LGBTQ, 26% disabled, and represent over 40 respected organizations that work for justice & liberation;
keep our program financially accessible through a sliding scale that starts at $0. Three quarters of our current cohort members receive partial or full scholarships;
prioritize our programming, rather than spending large amounts of time seeking funding from foundations and corporations which often leads to mission drift;
nurture joyful justice workers with all the capacities described above!
Monthly Support is what builds the sustainability of our program, which is currently still run on a mostly volunteer basis. Our big financial dream is to also be able to start providing stipends for cohort members for whom the time commitment creates a financial hardship, even if the program is provided free of charge. This is how we make sure those who are most impacted by the issues continue to be able to lead us in transformative solutions.
We know we can nurture the seeds we’ve planted if we can count on your help each month in 2019 -- thanks for joining our people-powered process!
Please note that we are fiscally sponsored by Social Good Fund, so this is what will be listed on your credit card statement.
